Laminated magnets
Refer to magnets composed of multiple layers of magnetic materials and non-magnetic materials. They have high magnetic properties and are widely used in various fields, such as electric motors, electronics, machinery, automobiles, household appliances, etc.
As the demand for sintered NdFeB magnets continues to grow in electric motors for vehicles and generators for wind power constructions, the issue of eddy current loss and demagnetization at high speeds becomes more prominent. To solve this problem, complete NdFeB blanks are segmented and laminated together with adhesive to creat indepent magnet parts that are insulated from each other. This method significantly reduces eddy current loss and maintains lower temperatures within the NdFeB magnets during motor operation.

One drawback of NdFeB magnets is their poor resistance to high temperatures. At high temperatures, NdFeB magnets can demagnetize. By laminating and insulating NdFeB blanks, the eddy current path is broken into multiple paths, which reduces eddy current density and, in turn, decreases eddy current loss. Laminated magnets have the following characteristics:
1 |
Composed of multiple layers of magnetic materials, certainly can be combined with Sm2Co17. |
2 |
Have good temperature stability and chemical stability. |
3 |
More intricate and expensive. |
4 |
With epoxy or phospharization as regular coating solution. |
5 |
Glue thickness from 0.1-0.15mm, cohesive force over 50Mpa. |
Besides small sized laminated magnets MaximMAGNET also has large sized segmented magnets which known as Halbach array from as small as 1mm to as large as 300mm. Due to the intellectual property protection i don't put pictures on, hoping for your understanding.
The Halbach array is often used in applications where a strong magnetic field is required in a specific direction, such as in motors, generators, and
magnetic levitation systems. It can also be used to reduce magnetic fields in certain directions, such as in magnetic shielding applications.
